BAU Faculty Members Among "The World's Most Influential Scientists"

Six faculty members from Bahçeşehir University have been included in the "World's Most Influential Scientists" list compiled by scientists from Stanford University and the journal PLOS Biology.

BAU Faculty of Medicine faculty member Prof. Dr. Serdar Durdağı and Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences faculty members Prof. Dr. Tofigh Allahviranlo,, Prof. Dr. Lütfi Arda, Prof. Dr. Çağatay Çatal,,  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Canan Acar and Dr. Behzad Ghanbari have been included in the "World's Most Influential Scientists" list published by the journal PLOS Biology.

THEY EARNED THEIR PLACE ON THE LIST AMONG 7 MILLION SCIENTISTS

The "World's Most Influential Scientists" study, carried out by John Ioannidis and his team from Stanford University and published in the journal PLOS Biology, evaluated the academic performance of 7 million scientists who have published at least 5 papers in their field, based on data from the Scopus Abstract and Citation Database for 1996-2019.

The study evaluated academic performance using scientific criteria such as the number of papers, h-index, hm-index for co-authored publications, citations, and citations to papers in different authorship positions.

The scientists were classified according to their individual fields of study into 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields, two ranking lists, "Career-Long Impact" and "Single-Year Impact", were created, and the 160,000 researchers in the top 2% of the 7 million scientists earned a place on the "World's Most Influential Scientists" list.

The "World's Most Influential Scientists" list includes 100,000 academics from around the world and 857 from Türkiye.
